From a Native Son

From A Native Son was born out of a need to understand my own photographic vision. When beginning my photographic career, I had no true grasp of who I was as an artist. I turned to my home state to explore where I came from––as well as the effect that this surreal, perplexing Southern state has had on my photographic eye. In the spirit of a spontaneous street photographer, I traveled the length of my state––from Pensacola to Miami––guided by the light, the color, and my experience growing up in Florida. I hope that my photographs touch on the complex and multicultural existence of my fellow Floridians, who call this strange and beautiful and complicated place home.
